Technical Authors generally come from an engineering background so they can understand and interpret the technology. Some of the documentation Technical Author jobs would require individuals to produce: User Guidance Notes, Installation Guidance Packages, Basic Fault Finding, Repair and Maintenance techniques and records, AESP’s (Army Equipment Support Publications) and JSP’s (Joint Services Publications). Technical Authors use a range of software or tools to write the publications or documentation such as: Framemaker, SGML, Microsoft Word / Office or Acrobat.
